2002-2003 Officer Goals

As officers this year we have set ourselves many goals for WV TSA. They are

  1. Increasing our overall State TSA membership by at least one chapter in both Middle School and High School
  2. Posting the secretary’s minutes on the WV TSA Web Page for the public to view
  3. Changing the WV TSA Scholarship so any active members going into technological fields are eligible for it
  4. Publishing the newsletter on the WV TSA Web Page instead of mailing it out to chapters
  5. Reestablishing and strengthening Courtesy Corps
  6. Getting and publishing more submissions from the chapters

Being able to increase our overall State TSA membership by at least one chapter in both Middle School and High School will be one of our bigger goals. We plan on fulfilling this goal by having all six officers going to visit schools who have said they are interested in TSA. We will go visit some of these schools in the beginning of this school year on our two-day trip.

Our Secretary, Karen Snyder, is going to have all the minutes she has taken be put on our WV TSA Web Page. This will allow all of our members to see what we have been doing. You can now get more involved in what we are doing.

The WV TSA Scholarship is just for people who are going to be technology teachers. We want to change this so that it is available to only the active WV TSA Members who are going into any technological field. We have several active TSA members who are going into technological fields but not as technology teachers. So far no one has even applied for the scholarship as it is now for three years. We think this should help out more of our active members.

It seems as if most of the chapters aren’t reading their newsletters so, we decided to save some money. Most students are able to use a computer with Internet somewhere so; we decided posting it on the WV TSA Web Page would be a perfect way for you to get it. You still are able to receive all the information, tips, and activities but, just by Internet.

We are going to strengthen and reestablish the Courtesy Corps by making a couple of changes to who can or needs to be involved in it. In order to be part of Courtesy Corps this year you have to have been in TSA at least one year before hand. We are also hoping to get an advisor in the meetings to help the Sgt. at Arms out by making sure the meeting doesn’t get out of control. You will also be rewarded with a gift and a pen.

We will be writing you to see if you have any news from your chapter. If you receive information from your chapter then we will be posting it on the WV TSA Web Page with the newsletter. This would help all the chapters to share ideas that they had. It would also let everyone know what is going on with each chapter. We are looking forward to see the good news you have!
